About Protest and Riot Training
Katie started her journey with horses at just 4 years old. By the age of 13, she was being asked by facility trainers to be their extra hands, as well as assisting in her mom's lesson and summer camp business. By age 16 she was taking on her own clients for both lessons and training. She also procured her first colt to start. By 19 she was working with a local SPCA facility to foster-train some of their horses, after adopting one herself. Since then she has worked with a wide variety of horses and clients.
Our dedicated team at Protest and Riot Training is passionate about horse training and committed to helping you and your horse reach your goals. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of equine behavior, we provide personalized training solutions tailored to each horse's unique needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of horses do you train?
I do my best to cater to just about all levels, shy of competitive showing. Whether you have a colt or green horse, or you have a seasoned mount who needs some more buttons or refreshers. I have experience with trail horses, barrels, cutting and reining horses predominantly. That said, I have worked with lots of English horses as well and I am able to take them on at a low level at this time.
Do you offer lessons for riders?
Yes, I offer lessons to those with their own horses currently. Your horse does not need to be in training with me to take lessons from me though either! There is a general plan for in the future to go back to offering lessons on one of my own horses, but I am not currently offering this.
What is your training philosophy?
My philosophy centers on understanding each horse's unique needs and building a trusting relationship. We focus on building and maintaining safe, healthy boundaries while boosting both the horse and handlers knowledge and confidence. I firmly believe no 2 horses can be trained in the exact same way. I tailor all of my training to meet the needs and requirements of each horse as an individual.
How can I get started with training my horse?
To get started, simply reach out to me through our contact page. We’ll discuss your horse's specific needs and set up a training plan that works for you and your horse. I will do my best to respond within 24-72 hours.
